Siro Pacenti is one of our favorite Montalcino producers, one that really hit its stride with the iconic 1997 vintage. Now, more than 20 years later, they’ve produced some of their finest wines to date. As one of the most sought-after producers in all of Italy, the winery outdid itself in terms of quality and price-points with its 2019 Brunellos. Siro Pacenti’s Brunello has a modern take on the region, emphasizing  finesse and balance, with layers of ultrafine tannins and subtle ripe fruit.  The wines age incredibly well and the “classic” label 2019 Pelagrilli upstages the 2016, making it the best classic-label Brunello the winery has produced, and one of the best buys of the vintage. Packed with vivid black cherry, black currant and plum fruit, as well as iron, sanguine and tobacco accents, this red shows some power and tension, but also grace and balance. The lingering aftertaste features bright, ripe fruit and wild herbs.
