Jean Foillard helped mainstream both the natural wine movement and the realization that Beaujolais can be complex and a long-lived wine.  The 2022 vintage allowed Foillard to produce a layered and powerful Côte du Py with a vibrant core. We love the underlying structure that pulls everything together with its stony minerality. The wine is powerful and downright gulpable at the same time. Lipsmacking and moreish already, it is an absolute joy to drink now. The tannins are fine with a slight bite, adding textural intrigue without being obtrusive. Coming in at 12.5% alcohol, it is sappy, fine and very elegant. Deceptively long and serious, it wears its pedigree easily this year - you can still age this wine. A very fine, delicious vintage here.
