Powerful and concentrated from the warmer southern Maconnais region of Burgundy, La Croix is a bit of an anomaly in that the soils of the vineyard are a dark flaky schist that is unique and one of a kind in Burgundy. It provides a stimulating stony complexion to counterbalance the thick layers of dense, fleshy fruit. Incredible old vines of 80 years, aged for 3 years in combination of vessels including used barrels, concrete tanks, amphorae. This is a most unusual expression of ripe Burgundy, an ideal gateway for Napa Chardonnay drinkers.
